The Opportunity

Join a high-energy team supporting Engineering Student Teams and the Monash Makerspace, where creativity meets technical excellence. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead technical and Health, Safety, and Well-being (HSW) initiatives, implement risk management strategies, and ensure compliance across diverse technical activities.

You’ll coordinate training, audits, incident response, and safety procedures, while overseeing Makerspace support and supervision and driving continuous improvement. Your strategic guidance will help embed a strong safety culture and support cutting-edge student innovation.

We’re looking for someone with deep technical and OHS knowledge, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and experience working in complex environments including  practical experience within a range of engineering and manufacturing technologies including both CNC and manual machining, electrical, hydraulics, woodwork, composites and metal fabrication.

Shift Work Requirement

This role includes shift work to provide oversight and support during extended Makerspace hours. Shifts will include evenings and weekends. Candidates will be asked to indicate their availability as part of the application process.

  • No.2: Substantial and thorough knowledge and understanding of current OHS legislation and statutory requirements and the ability to provide strategic advice to key stakeholders.

  • No.9: Some experience working in an engineering industry, technical workshop, a university or laboratory/research-based environment with practical experience within a range of engineering and manufacturing technologies including both CNC and manual machining, electrical, hydraulics, woodwork, composites and metal fabrication
