The Opportunity

ARC Justice is an independent, for-purpose human rights organisation delivering accessible legal services and support to people experiencing disadvantage across regional and rural Victoria.

To support this work, ARC Justice in Bendigo is seeking a Legal Officer to provide high-level administrative and program support to the clinical legal education program delivered in partnership with Monash University. The role supports the delivery and ongoing development of Monash Law’s experiential education program, facilitating regional student placements while contributing to the provision of legal assistance to the community.

The Legal Officer works collaboratively with Monash Law academics, ARC Justice staff, and students to support day-to-day program administration and high-quality learning experiences. The role requires compliance with ARC Justice policies, procedures, and operational requirements, and alignment with ARC Justice directions relating to service delivery.

As the successful candidate, you will bring excellent administrative skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective operational processes and systems, underpinned by strong organisational and time-management capabilities that enable you to set priorities, plan work efficiently, and meet deadlines. You will work collaboratively as part of a team while exercising a high level of independence, judgement, and initiative, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support program delivery. You will also have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including people experiencing complex vulnerabilities, and negotiate positive outcomes in complex matters. Experience as a participant in an experiential clinical legal education program or as a volunteer at a community legal centre is highly desirable.
