The Opportunity
The Research Assistant will provide vital support to the administration and delivery of a large-scale self-harm prevention research project, led by the Black Dog Institute in partnership with Monash University. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of senior researchers, the Research Assistant will contribute to both the technical and administrative aspects of the project. Key activities include supporting the development of intervention components, liaising with schools to facilitate pilot testing of a new preventative intervention, and assisting with the dissemination of early project learnings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful research aimed at improving mental health outcomes for young people.
As the successful candidate, you will hold an honours degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, or be progressing toward a doctorate. You will bring strong analytical and manuscript preparation skills with evidence of refereed publications, along with the ability to solve complex problems using discretion, innovation and sound judgement. You will have well-developed planning and organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and an understanding of confidentiality, privacy and information-handling principles. You will demonstrate the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant university systems, and the ability to learn new software as required. Experience working with schools or supporting school staff, as well as experience contributing to research projects in mental health or working within psychology or a related field, is also essential.
