The Opportunity
Are you ready to shape storytelling that truly lives in culture? Monash University’s Marketing team is seeking a Manager, Culture & Creative Strategy, a visionary leader who brings deep insight into internet culture, youth trends, and creator ecosystems to craft content that resonates across emerging platforms.
In this role, you will lead the development of culturally intelligent, emotionally engaging content that reflects the world our audiences inhabit from lo-fi video and reactive storytelling TikTok aesthetics and meme culture. You will champion experimentation with new formats and AI-enabled creative tools, ensuring Monash stays ahead of the curve.
What You’ll Do

Cultural Insight & Creative Direction: Spot emerging trends, interpret subcultures, and translate cultural intelligence into creative concepts and tone-of-voice guidance.

Creative Development & Collaboration: Drive ideation for short-form, reactive, and experimental content while collaborating with strategists, producers, and faculty partners.

Platform Fluency & Innovation: Stay ahead of shifts on TikTok, Reels, Threads, Substack, and beyond. Champion new storytelling techniques and AI-assisted workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build authentic relationships with creators, students, and community voices. Present insights and concepts with clarity and impact.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in fast paced content creation environments
- Expertise in creating content that cuts through to young audiences
- Outcomes driven, with a keen interest to test, learn and iterate new initiatives
- Tertiary qualifications in media production, communications, design, or equivalent experience.
- Proven expertise in creative strategy, cultural insight, and platform-native content.
- Deep understanding of youth culture, internet aesthetics, and emerging media formats.
- Strong creative judgment and collaborative skills.
- Familiarity and eagerness to work with AI tools in content creation.
