The Opportunity

The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University is seeking a Level B Research Fellow to contribute to the ARC-funded project Relational Return: A New Model for Returning Indigenous Cultural Materials. This research-only role supports high-quality, independent and collaborative scholarship within a culturally engaged research environment, contributing to the creation of new knowledge through partnerships with Indigenous and First Nations creative and research communities.

In this role, you will undertake independent and collaborative research leading to high-quality publications and presentations. You will contribute to research funding applications, support and guide junior research staff, and supervise research-support personnel and higher degree projects. You will also engage in professional activities, attend relevant meetings, manage research-related administration, and make occasional contributions to teaching within your research area.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong research capability, including advanced statistical analysis and a solid record of refereed publications and proposal development. You will bring experience in research supervision, mentoring, and postgraduate engagement, alongside excellent organisational and communication skills. You will work effectively across interdisciplinary teams, apply advanced analytical and digital tools, and show a clear commitment to ethical, respectful research practice with Indigenous peoples and methodologies.
