The Opportunity

The School of Rural Health Mildura is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Practice) to provide academic leadership for the Monash Mildura GP Academy end-to-end program, with a strong focus on primary care education. The position will coordinate curriculum and assessments to ensure alignment with contemporary clinical practice and rural health priorities. It also supports innovation, strengthens clinical placement relationships and works closely with supervisors and staff to deliver a high-quality training experience for medical students. This is a fixed-term position for three years, with funding confirmed until 30 June 2031.

Responsibilities for this position include supporting students throughout their rural medical training through the delivery of tutorials, practical classes and small group learning, while fostering personal, professional and academic development. The role also provides a vital connection between the University, community-based and hospital-based clinical environments, ensuring clinical expertise and collegiate networks inform curriculum, teaching and assessment. It also contributes to research activity, particularly in clinical education and participates in academic governance through meetings, planning and committee work, alongside ongoing professional activity.

We are seeking someone with an advanced qualification in a discipline relevant to clinical medicine or public health recognised in Australia together with current AHPRA registration and substantial professional or clinical experience. It draws on strong interpersonal communication and organisational skills, a demonstrated commitment to teaching and academic engagement and the ability to build collaborative relationships across clinical and academic settings.

If you are motivated to contribute to high-quality rural medical education and support the next generation of general practitioners we encourage you to apply and be part of the Monash Mildura GP Academy.

Travelling to various University campuses may be part of the position, and possessing a valid driver's license is crucial for performing the responsibilities.
