The Opportunity

Lead the next generation of research-driven digital innovation. As the Rapid Application Engineering Lead, you'll build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team that transforms cutting-edge research, AI and emerging technologies into scalable, production-ready digital solutions with real-world impact.

This is a rare opportunity to shape technical strategy, influence commercial outcomes, and work alongside leading researchers, industry partners and stakeholders to accelerate the translation of breakthrough ideas into secure, cloud-native products. You'll combine hands-on technical leadership with people leadership, driving engineering excellence while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated technical leadership delivering production-ready applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js and modern cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP/Firebase).

  • Extensive experience establishing contemporary software engineering practices, including cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, AI-enabled development, automated testing and secure-by-design principles.

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary software engineering or digital product teams, with a strong focus on innovation, mentoring and capability development.

  • Strong ability to translate complex research, AI or technical concepts into practical, scalable digital products for commercial or real-world application.

  • Experience delivering digital products using Agile methodologies, with excellent planning, prioritisation and delivery management skills.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience navigating ambiguity and guiding products from proof of concept through to production.
