The Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (MUHREC) is seeking new members to contribute their insights and experience. Your input can help strengthen ethical research at Monash University. We are specifically looking for:

Pastoral care representatives 

Community members who provide spiritual or cultural support or pastoral support, including:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders
• Chaplains or ministers of religion
• Other religious leaders

Community representatives

People who bring a broad, independent community perspective and have no affiliation with Monash University.

What to expect

• 12 months initial appointment, with potential for renewal
• Induction and ongoing training opportunities
• Eight meetings per year, plus the follow up reviews

What you bring

• Strong interpersonal and computer skills
• The ability to read and large documents within set timeframes
• A commitment to fairness, confidentiality, and community service

Your responsibilities

• Become familiar with the ‘National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research’
• Review research proposals to ensure they meet ethical standards
• Attend at least 75% of committee meetings
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
