The Opportunity
This is an end-to-end creative production role at the center of how Monash University shapes its visual identity and engages global audiences.
As a Creative Producer within the Content Lab, you will lead the development and production of high-impact video content, flagship series, and multi-format assets (including podcasts and photography) that support Monash’s strategic objectives. You will work within an audience-first content model designed to move Monash from traditional institutional broadcasting to compelling, story-led narratives.
This is a hands-on role requiring a sophisticated balance of strategic narrative development, creative judgment and technical execution. From pitching concepts to senior leaders and interviewing subject matter experts, to operating cinema-grade gear and editing for brand and paid media campaigns - you will own the project lifecycle from initial spark to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the end-to-end delivery of flagship content series, owning narrative development, pre-production, filming, and final technical delivery.
-
Translate complex marketing briefs and institutional objectives into platform-native, original creative concepts that earn and hold audience attention.
-
Partner with our Content Production Lead to work with high-profile talent and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract compelling stories, and provide expert advice to senior leaders on creative feasibility and production approaches.
-
Undertake high-end filming, lighting, sound recording, and editing, ensuring all assets meet the technical and aesthetic standards required for premium brand and paid media campaigns.
-
Edit and adapt video assets into multiple formats for various digital platforms, collaborating with designers and motion specialists to integrate assets into broader multi-channel campaigns.
-
Apply an iterative, test-and-learn approach by leveraging performance insights to refine creative treatments, while proactively adopting emerging AI technologies to optimize workflows.
-
Maintain accurate version control and asset storage in line with Content Lab processes, ensuring footage is captured and archived with future reuse and remixing in mind.
About You
You are a visionary storyteller and an execution specialist rolled into one. You don't just know how to operate a camera; you understand the nuance of human-centric storytelling and how to translate complex ideas into cinematic, emotionally resonant visual narratives.
You possess high emotional intelligence, making you equally comfortable interviewing an academic expert or pitching a bold creative direction to senior university executives. You thrive in a structured, fast-paced content team, bringing a collaborative and agile mindset to multi-channel campaigns. Crucially, you are a forward-thinking creator who stays ahead of industry trends, eager to experiment with new formats, tools and workflows to keep Monash at the cutting edge of digital storytelling.
Key Selection Criteria
-
Demonstrated success in leading the conceptualisation, production and delivery of high-impact video content and flagship series.
-
Strong technical expertise operating professional DSLR, mirrorless or cinema cameras, alongside a sophisticated understanding of studio/field lighting and sound recording.
-
Highly proficient with contemporary editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or equivalent), with an advantage given to familiarity with Canva.
-
Proven ability to translate complex strategic briefs into compelling visual narratives that achieve specific marketing or audience objectives.
-
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of pitching creative concepts, managing stakeholder approvals and interviewing talent.
