The Opportunity
The Research Fellow will contribute to the University’s research output by supporting and developing expertise through engagement in defined research projects within their field. The role sits within the Trauma-Informed Education and Research (TIER) Impact Lab in the Faculty of Education, a world-first initiative focused on strengthening the evidence base and translation of trauma-informed research to improve outcomes for schools, services, and communities affected by trauma.
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the Research Fellow will support the Lab’s 2026 priorities by contributing to research and evaluation activities across trauma-informed education and community projects. This includes undertaking literature reviews, supporting qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to reports, publications, presentations, and knowledge translation outputs, as well as assisting with grant development and partnership activities across education, health, and community sectors.
As the successful candidate, you will hold an honours degree or higher in a relevant discipline, or be nearing completion of a doctorate, or hold a doctoral qualification in a closely related field. You will demonstrate capability in contributing to advanced research and evaluation methodologies, particularly qualitative data collection and analysis, alongside experience conducting literature or systematic reviews.
You will bring strong analytical and writing skills, evidenced by scholarly outputs such as publications, conference presentations, or thesis work, as well as the ability to prepare clear and succinct reports. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including experience engaging with diverse stakeholders such as educators, researchers, community organisations, government agencies, and people with lived experience of trauma. You will also demonstrate discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information, proficiency with relevant software, and experience contributing to grant or funding applications.
Demonstrated knowledge and/or application of trauma-informed principles in the workplace, including participation in training programs, scholarly work in the field of trauma or trauma-informed practice, or other relevant engagement demonstrating an understanding of trauma-informed care, will be highly regarded.
