About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced events professional to lead a dynamic and diverse program of graduate student events and engagement initiatives within a student-focused organisation.

As Events Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the graduate student experience across Monash University’s campuses by delivering high-quality events, programs and activities that foster connection, inclusion and community. From large-scale orientation events and flagship social programs to engagement and welfare activities and volunteer programs, no two days in this role are the same.

You will lead the operational delivery of MGA’s events portfolio, supervise a talented and passionate team of Event Officers and work closely with student leaders, University stakeholders and external partners to deliver engaging and impactful experiences for graduate students.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing operational coordination with hands-on event delivery, and is passionate about creating meaningful student experiences through innovative and well-executed programs.

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract for a maternity leave cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and coordination of MGA’s annual events and engagement calendar
  • Oversee the operational delivery of events and programs across multiple campuses
  • Supervise and support staff involved in event and engagement activities
  • Manage event logistics including venues, suppliers, ticketing, staffing and volunteers
  • Oversee the volunteer, mentoring and graduate group programs
  • Manage event budgets and monitor expenditure
  • Build effective relationships with University stakeholders and external providers
  • Ensure events are delivered in accordance with organisational policies and health and safety requirements
  • Conduct event evaluations and reporting to support continuous improvement

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience managing and delivering complex events, programs or engagement activities
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience supervising or coordinating staff within a collaborative team environment
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Experience managing operational logistics, suppliers and budgets
  • A proactive and adaptable approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of risk management and workplace health and safety requirements
  • A commitment to inclusive and student-focused service delivery

Additional Information

  • The role operates across multiple campuses, and regular travel between campuses is an inherent requirement of the position.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required to support events and programs.
