The Opportunity
Paid media and demand generation play a critical role in how Monash engages prospective students and drives global recruitment. As Advertising Manager, you will lead the Channel Experience and Program Change team to oversee the University’s media buying, social media activity and the development of creative, high-impact advertising campaigns focused on lead generation, student recruitment and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate higher-education marketing strategy into multi-channel advertising and social plans that drive measurable impact
- Lead the delivery of university-wide and faculty-specific paid campaigns across social, digital, and above-the-line (ATL) channels
- Manage external media and creative agencies, ensuring all output aligns seamlessly with our brand guidelines and strategic priorities
- Manage operational activities, including planning, continuous service improvement, reporting and risk management.
- Lead a team of 3 direct reports, you will foster a motivated, highly trained and customer-focused work environment

About You
- You are an experienced marketing and media professional who understands how to turn brand strategy and multi-channel campaign implementation into high-performing student recruitment outcomes.
- Deeply experienced in social, digital, and ATL media buying, with a proven track record of confidently steering external creative and media agencies.
- Driven by how advertising maps to the broader student journey, connecting paid media execution directly to business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable managing large budgets, tracking performance metrics, and using regular business reporting to manage risks and optimize ROI.
- Understands the critical importance of brand governance, seamlessly balancing creative flair with operational and financial rigour.
- Excels at managing, mentoring, and motivating a high-performance team to deliver quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
- Adept at building strong, consultative relationships within complex matrix structures, faculties, and senior executive teams.
- A proactive problem-solver who champions operational efficiency and strategic service delivery.
Selection Criteria
- Extensive experience in social, digital and above-the-line (ATL) media buying, multi-channel campaign implementation, reporting, and analytics.
- Demonstrated experience in managing external suppliers, including media and creative agencies, as well as working alongside designers to manage creative work within strict brand guidelines.
- Highly developed planning and organization skills, with proven experience establishing priorities, allocating resources and motivating team members to achieve objectives within tight deadlines.
- Staff management experience with a proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor a high-performance team committed to excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated management experience navigating a large, complex, or matrix organisational structure.
- Excellent operational management skills, with the ability to manage project budgets (up to $3M), review business practices, and implement continuous quality assurance and risk-monitoring processes.
- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, including a demonstrated ability to deliver positive, data-driven solutions to complex marketing problems.
