What You’ll Do

As a core member of our service team, you will keep our facility stocked, sanitised, and running like clockwork. Your days will include:

  • Hygiene and Preparation: Operating specialised equipment (sterilisers, tunnel/cabinet washers, steam boilers) to clean and prepare caging, water bottles, and environmental enrichment.

  • Inventory and Logistics: Managing consumable stock levels, tracking deliveries, and keeping accurate records of incoming/outgoing goods.

  • Equipment Care: Performing routine maintenance (filter cleans, water changes, detergent refills) and liaising with contractors for repairs when needed.

  • Safety and Compliance: Following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and facility health.

Reporting Line

You will work under routine supervision, reporting directly to the Senior Service Coordinator while collaborating closely with the Lead Service Technician.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a reliable team player who takes pride in a clean and safe workspace.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Year 10, a relevant trades certificate, OR equivalent practical experience (experience in animal care or biomedical research is a huge plus!).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Hands-on Capability: Comfortable operating mechanical equipment (autoclaves, industrial washers) and a proven track record of safe manual handling (regularly lifting up to 15kg).

  • A True Team Player: Outstanding communication skills and a respectful, collegiate approach to working with facility staff.

  • Organised and Timely: Strong time-management skills to meet tight schedules and keep supplies stocked.

  • Tech-Savvy Basics: Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and email platforms (Gmail) for accurate record-keeping.

  • Bonus Points: Experience with inventory management/ordering or a current forklift license will be highly regarded!
