The Opportunity

Lead the future of ethical and sustainable procurement at one of Australia's leading universities.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of supply chain risk, governance, and responsible procurement across the Monash Group.

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Procurement, the Deputy Director, Supply Chain Risk and Governance will provide strategic leadership across the University's diverse and complex supply chains. You will drive best-practice governance, strengthen supply chain transparency, champion ethical and sustainable procurement, and ensure robust risk management that protects and enhances the University's reputation.

As a key leader within Strategic Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and mitigating significant procurement risks while positioning Monash as a regional leader in responsible and sustainable supply chain management.

In this influential leadership role, you will:

• Lead the University's Group-wide Modern Slavery Program, including delivery of the University's annual Modern Slavery Act Report.
• Drive the governance, compliance and continuous improvement of procurement risk management frameworks, policies and supplier governance practices.
• Serve as the University's procurement subject matter expert as it relates to ESG, modern slavery, social procurement and responsible sourcing, providing strategic advice on a wide range of procurement activities and negotiations.
• Design and implement enterprise-wide supply chain risk strategies across the University, its controlled entities and international campuses to strengthen resilience and operational performance.
• Partner with senior leaders and executive stakeholders to influence strategic decision-making, build organisational capability and embed leading procurement risk practices across the University.

About you

You are a strategic and influential procurement leader with postgraduate qualifications and significant relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of extensive senior management expertise.

You bring a strong track record in commercial procurement and contract management across high-value and/or high-risk categories within a large, complex organisation. With deep expertise in procurement governance, modern slavery and ESG risk, you are confident navigating complex regulatory environments and delivering practical, commercially sound solutions.

A collaborative and trusted adviser, you combine exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and executive communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. You are motivated by the opportunity to drive meaningful organisational change, strengthen governance and leave a lasting impact through ethical and sustainable procurement leadership.
