The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the strategic direction of a diverse University property portfolio spanning local, overseas and foundation assets. As a Portfolio Manager, you will lead strategic initiatives and projects that optimise portfolio performance, strengthen long-term property outcomes and support the University’s broader strategic priorities.

Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the University, you will lead and manage complex, portfolio-wide projects, bringing together strategy, financial stewardship, risk, data and performance insights to drive informed decisions and deliver tangible outcomes. You will provide trusted strategic advice, build strong stakeholder partnerships and translate portfolio priorities into practical initiatives and sustainable improvements.

This is a key opportunity to lead innovation and transformation across the portfolio, including the use of artificial intelligence, automation and emerging technologies to improve decision-making, scenario planning, workflows and service delivery. You will be encouraged to challenge existing approaches, identify opportunities for strategic improvement and lead the delivery of initiatives that create meaningful value for the University. You will also build capability within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and delivery.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Extensive experience in property, infrastructure or commercial portfolio oversight, including financial analysis, budgeting, reporting and senior stakeholder advice.

  • Strong working knowledge of property management, leasing, statutory obligations, risk and compliance requirements.

  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual capability, with the ability to interpret complex portfolio and financial information and translate insights into practical recommendations.

  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude in AI, automation and emerging technologies, with the ability to apply these to reporting, budgeting, systems and work practices.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at senior levels.

  • Outstanding planning, organisational and operational management capability, with a strong focus on priorities, accuracy, resources and delivery.

  • Demonstrated people leadership and digital capability, including supervision, continuous improvement, Microsoft Office, property/portfolio systems and reporting tools, with a willingness to champion AI-enabled ways of working
