The Opportunity

As Dean, the successful candidate will provide strategic and academic leadership to one of Australia's premier science faculties, driving excellence across research, education, student success and external engagement. They will champion international connectedness, interdisciplinary collaboration, foster a culture of innovation and strengthen the Faculty's contribution to addressing the grand challenges facing society.

Reporting to the Provost and serving as a key member of the University's senior leadership team, the Dean will help shape organisational strategy, build the Faculty's national and international profile, and position it for continued success in an increasingly interconnected and technology-enabled world.

The successful candidate will be an internationally respected academic leader with a distinguished scholarly reputation and a proven record of leadership within a research-intensive environment. They will bring the strategic, commercial and organisational capability to lead a complex enterprise, and the vision, energy and curiosity to inspire outstanding performance and cultivate a culture of excellence, inclusion and achievement.

A skilled and influential relationship builder, you will demonstrate a strong track record of engaging across academia, industry, government and philanthropy to create opportunities that advance strategic priorities and deliver meaningful impact. Your experience in developing and leveraging strategic international partnerships will be evident, as will your ability to foster globally significant research and education collaborations that enhance reputation, capability and reach. You will bring both the vision and the leadership credentials to position Monash Science as a leading voice in addressing complex global challenges, strengthening its standing among the world's foremost scientific institutions.
