Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.

The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.

It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.

The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.

MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.

Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor

We currently have a great career opportunity available for an experienced Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Rosebery, Tasmania.

Reporting to the Coordinator Mine Maintenance, this role is responsible to lead and manage the underground mobile maintenance team to execute safe and efficient maintenance activities for the mine site in line with the business targets and objectives.

This role is offered on a 7 on / 7 off roster including night shift, residential in Rosebery or DIDO from other locations within Tasmania.

Key Accountabilities (however not limited to)

  • Lead and manage the mine maintenance team to execute safe and efficient maintenance activities for the mine site in line with the business targets and objectives 
  • Provide input to the planning and engineering function on site to refine existing maintenance strategies, develop new strategies and to promote continuous fleet reliability and maintenance cost reduction improvements.
  • Develop strong processes and procedures to ensure mine production maintenance requirements are executed –Mechanical, Electrical and Services.
  • Provide support and input to establish processes and procedures to ensure mine production and development maintenance requirements are planned & scheduled and services
  • Promote a process of asset ownership and individual accountability for defect identification.
  • Promote a strong culture of comprehensive defect scoping and job planning, early defect identification, defect management, condition monitoring, defect management, asset health monitoring, defect management and continuous improvement.
  • Promote and lead the team to apply contemporary hydrocarbon management practices.
  • Manage all maintenance history through computerised maintenance management system (SAP)
  • Identify and evaluate non-conformances and provide support to develop corrective actions
  • Provide skills, knowledge and experience to assist in the development of preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Adherence at all times to the MMG Code of Conduct. The code provides standards for appropriate ethical and professional behaviour. It is based on MMG’s values of Safety, Integrity, Action and Results which form the basis of, and underpin all of MMG’s business relationships.

Qualifications Skills and Competencies;

  • Trade Qualification (i.e. Heavy Diesel Fitter, Electrician, Boilermaker/Welder)
  • Demonstrable experience working in an Underground Mining Maintenance environment dealing with Mobile and Fixed Plant Equipment
  • Proven experience managing and leading teams
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Ability to achieve results through influence, solution focused and risk adverse
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to forward plan to drive desired outcomes
  • Strong communication both written and verbal with clear concise reporting skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation
  • Competent to monitor progress of delegation, assignments and activities
  • A proven history with safe work practises, with the ability to identify and address unsafe practices and lead by example.
