Mine Technical Services Superintendent
Unique Leadership opportunity to provide integral support to the mine management team at Dugald River. In this role you will be accountable for delivering optimum mining outputs as well as planning and improving delivery of mine technical services outputs.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will take a leadership role in the direction and coordination of the Mine Technical team. You will support and assist the Technical Services Manager to deliver against plans and strategic objectives by providing the technical expertise across mine design, planning, D&B, scheduling, ventilation, survey and geotechnical disciplines.
You will lead in coordinating initiatives, projects and sustainable solutions to continuously improve processes aligned with technical services and the underground environment, coupled with inputs into the yearly budget and planning, as well as on-time delivery of all design work to the operations teams required to safely deliver monthly, quarterly and yearly targets.
This role will be based on an 8/6, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of these locations.
Responsibilities include
- Development of fit for purpose production schedules through mine planning process such that operations can deliver to agreed budget plans without planning delays
- Delivery of medium term mine plans and quarterly forecast
- Provide inputs to the integrated planning and Life of Asset processes as required.
- Develop and enhance technical safety management systems e.g. seismic system, ground control
- Deliver operations support for all technical processes e.g. geo control and drill & blast
- Identify and support Cost/Efficiency improvements for the mining operations
- Develop and maintain reporting systems
- Identify and implement mine optimisation opportunities
- Attend cross department meetings and preparing suitable material as requested;
- Prepare short term reports on emergent tissues
- Make short term plan adjustments and initiate new short-term plans to address immediate issues with their appropriate counterpart
Qualifications, skills & competencies
- Technical degree in mine engineering and/or applicable discipline with preferred post tertiary qualifications in a technical or management discipline
- Contemporary knowledge and application of mining operations, mine planning, drill & blast, geotechnical and paste practices at the operational level
- Knowledge of effective supervisory and leadership tools, techniques and methods
- Management and leadership of people, to deliver on plans, budgets, KPI’s and approved programmes of work.
- High level of capability to analyse and interpret a wide range of technical data from a performance and planning perspective with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to create and develop strong and trusting relationships at all levels with a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in showing initiative and achieving business outcomes in a mining environment
