About the Opportunity

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services– Forensic Services (CAMHS - FS) is a multi-disciplinary service which aims to provide clinically and culturally responsive forensic assessment and intervention services to young people to strengthen their resilience and skills for safe community engagement, and assist improve quality of life outcomes.  The Secure Care Program provides mental health assessment and intervention services including cultural support to young people in custody in the Kurlana Tapa Adelaide Youth Training Centre ; support and liaison to young peoples’ families and relevant stakeholders in relation to mental health issues and relevant cultural information, and may facilitate relevant group programs.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join CAMHS Forensic Services as a CAMHS Clinician, where you will be responsible for:

  • Provide clinical expertise for children, adolescents, and families with mental health issues involved in the justice system.
  • Address inconsistencies between practice and policy.
  • Ensure optimal consumer care through assessment, education, counseling, and group work.
  • Consult and liaise with other professional disciplines and non-governmental organizations.
  • Utilize expert clinical knowledge, skills, and experience to support, orient, and educate other staff.
  • Lead and participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities, and policy development within the practice setting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Communicate and work with other professionals, facilitate group functions and work as a team member.
  • Work with a high degree of responsibility with limited supervision and direction.
  • Communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms
  • Extensive clinical experience in the treatment and management of complex child and adolescent mental health issues in a youth justice setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical work within social work, including group work.
