As the Surgical RMO, you will manage the day-to-day care of patients under the unit, preparing and completing daily ward duties and assisting with operating theatres. About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Surgical Resident, Registrars, Fellows and the Head of Unit, some of your duties as the Casual Resident Medical Officer may involve:
- Participating in, and being involved in a variety of elective and emergency surgical cases.
- Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care.
- Providing after-hours care to general and surgical sub-specialty units as required by the published monthly roster.
- Ability to assist in the assessment and management of surgical patients admitted via the Emergency Department.
About you:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
- Must hold a current registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
- Completed internship and have relevant medical training to commence as a Surgical RMO.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and provide direction, show leadership to junior medical staff and have affective interpersonal skills and teaching skills.
