The Geriatric Memory Support Unit provides care for patients who are medically stable and are waiting transition to a community Residential Aged Care Facility. This unit is located at the Repat Health Precinct and has a strong emphasis on a partnership between the patient, family and community. The multidisciplinary clinical care team develops and enacts support plans to provide tailored patient activities to meet individual needs and effective discharge planning.  

The Enrolled Nurse role reports to the Nurse Unit Manager in Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care and supports the Registered Nurse/Midwife in the provision of person-centred care consistent with regulatory and statutory requirements.

About the Role:

As the Enrolled Nurse, your duties may include:

  • Providing assistance to other members of the health care team in provision of care to individuals/groups
  • Provides education to patients/clients, families and carers
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers
  • Demonstrating knowledge and skills in rehabilitation assessment, care and routine procedures for rehabilitation nursing practices

To be successful in the role:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards
