About the role

RN1 - Instrument/Circulating Registered Nurses with the specialty skillset applicable to be proficient in caring for patients within the Technical Suites (Elective, Emergency & Cardiothoracic theatres). Employees classified at this level provide nursing services in health service settings. Employees working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice within Technical Suites. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.

RN2 - Employees working within this level have been consolidated their perioperative experience with further study. Staff at this level developed from competent to proficient practitioners. Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff within Technical Suites. The Instrument/Circulating Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios related to surgical nursing. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan. The Clinical Nurse demonstrates advanced practice within the specialised field of employment. The Clinical Nurse has a high level of understanding within their chosen specialty (Elective, Emergency & Cardiothoracic theatres).

Essential Requirements/Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills:

Scrub/Scout experience within the theatres areas (minimum 3-4yrs in the last years)

Clinical specialities required: Trauma/Emergency, Neuro, Vascular, Ortho

Good communication skills

Ability to work within a team environment

Good time management skills

Work experience within a Tertiary hospital environment
