About the role

Exciting Opportunity for a Telehealth Pharmacist to provide pharmacy services via telehealth in Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN). This is a new model for pharmacy services being trialled across RMCLHN.

We are looking for a Pharmacist, to deliver pharmacy services to the Riverland General Hospital (Berri) and associated sites across RMCLHN. The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing the clinical pharmacy services via telehealth within RMCLHN, requiring excellent relationship building skills.

The main responsibilities of this role include providing:

  • direct patient care
  • accurate medical histories
  • clinical reviews of medications
  • continuity of care on discharge
  • QUM

As the Telehealth Pharmacist, you have the option to be based at an approved SA Pharmacy location convenient to you that also enables efficient travel to the RMCLHN when needed. The role can accommodate flexible working practices, including remote working arrangements as per SA Health guidelines.

You may need to travel to sites within the RMCLHN to support the initial delivery of the virtual telehealth service, and SA Pharmacy will fund your travel costs within South Australia. As the Telehealth Pharmacist, you will report to the Regional Lead Pharmacist – RMCLHN.

Role classifications

AHP2 - Pharmacist 

Provides a quality, comprehensive, efficient, cost effective and complex range of professional, dispensing, clinical, production and counselling services for inpatients and outpatients. The Pharmacist optimises drug therapy and contributes to overall medication management. The Pharmacist provides drug and therapeutic advice to medical, nursing and other professionals involved in patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, SA Health guidelines, and State and Federal legislation. The Pharmacist participates as a member of a team of professional and nonprofessional staff to deliver optimal medication management services.

AHP3 - Senior Pharmacist 

Responsible for the organisation, management and operation of the designated pharmacy area. The provision of a comprehensive high-level range of pharmacy services, to exercise independent and autonomous judgement in the provision of pharmacy services, medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients of the hospital as well as medical and nursing staff and other health professionals in accordance with hospital and divisional policies and procedures and professional standards and guidelines relating to pharmacy practice. The optimisation of outcomes for patients by implementing strategies to achieve the best possible quality use of pharmaceuticals in a safe and cost-effective manner and in accordance with hospital policy.

The SA Health electronic medication record (Sunrise EMR) has been activated at all acute hospital services within the RMCLHN, enabling opportunity to trial an innovative virtual pharmacy service across RMCLHN.

Essential Requirements:

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
