Flinders Medical Centre are looking for a Research Nurse to join their Anaesthesia team!

The Anaesthesia Department provides anaesthesia services for most of the divisions at Flinders Medical Centre. The expertise required of the staff is broader ranging than in any other hospital in South Australia. Anaesthesia provides substantial emergency cover out of hours, for emergency surgery and the Labour and Delivery Suite, plus covering emergencies and unexpected demands within hours. About the Role:

Reporting to the Deputy Director Research and audit, Anaesthesia and the Deputy Director of Anaesthesia, the Clinical Nurse will be responsible for providing support to the Anaesthesia health care team through the management of a portfolio in research. The Clinical Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Recruitment of patients and coordinating their care. 
  • Observing and collecting data from the patient relevant to the research project. 
  • Handling and preparation of laboratory specimens. 
  • Liaising with interstate coordinators and local participants. 

About you:

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to people from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds. 
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships across disciplines. 
  • Experience in evaluating the results of nursing research and integrating, where relevant, the results into nursing practice.
