We are looking for a Service Registrar - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to join our team!

The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) has its main site at Flinders Medical Centre, with additional clinics and operating lists at Noarlunga Hospital.  The service provides expertise to patients of the southern districts of Adelaide and South Australia. About the Role:

The Service Registrar is accountable to the Director, Surgery and Perioperative Medicine Division through the Head of Unit, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As the Service Registrar, some of your duties may involve:

  • General administration of the ward procedures relating to medical care, ensuring adequate documentation in the case notes, discharge summaries and follow up appointments. 
  • In association with Consultants and other Unit Registrars, supervise the resident staff and students on a day-to-day basis ensuring ready availability to provide advice and guidance. 
  • Undertaking training as required to attain and maintain required competency of skills and knowledge applicable to the role. 

About you:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff, proficient in written and spoken English. 
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. 
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. 
  • Successfully complete the General Science Surgical Exam (GSSE). 
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of surgery as expected for level of training. 
  • Completed a minimum of 10 weeks in Plastics Surgery. 
  • Surgical skills appropriate to the level of training.

Please note: As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as a Service Registrar will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
