  • Temporary up to 30/6/25 and part-time working 32.50 hours per week
  • Multiple contracts available, working over 7 day rotating roster including Early, Late & Night shifts.

About the Role

As a Patient Assistant Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting patients who experience confusion or disorientation, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their stay. Your responsibilities will include providing short-term assistance to patients at risk of falls, disruptions to treatment, or becoming lost, all while working closely with nursing teams to follow care plans and protocols. You will be placed in a variety of business areas based on need, offering you the opportunity to work with different patients and contribute to their care on a daily basis.

You will collaborate with the BART nurses or AHC to implement tailored care plans and will escalate any clinical concerns to the appropriate nursing team when necessary. The role requires clear communication, as you will need to document observations and ensure an informative handover to the next shift and relevant staff. This is a dynamic and rewarding position, perfect for those looking to make a direct impact on patient care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

About You

We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled individual to join our team as a Patient Assistant Officer. To succeed in this role, you will have the following:

  • Vocational qualifications in Individual Support or Disability Care (Cert III or IV) or relevant education in aged care.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to document patient care effectively.
  • Proven experience providing care in a healthcare setting, with a focus on person-centred care.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, patient dignity, and relevant healthcare legislation and ethics.
