About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the CALHN Pharmacy Manufacturing team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician. CALHN Pharmacy is the largest manufacturing service in the SA public system, with a broad range of products compounded and opportunities available for a motivated, organised and engaging individual. Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy manufacturing service is highly valued.

Join our dynamic pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in providing comprehensive pharmacy services to our inpatients and outpatients. In this engaging position, you will support the dispensing and distribution of medications, ensuring that patients receive their treatments efficiently and accurately. Your responsibilities will also include a variety of cashier and reception activities, contributing to a smooth and welcoming experience for all visitors. If you're eager to learn and develop your skills, you may also have the opportunity to assist in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, further enhancing your expertise in the field.

As a Pharmacy Assistant at the Allied Health Assistant AHA Level 1, you will have a clear pathway for career progression. With a commitment to ongoing training, you can advance to AHA level 2 upon successful completion of a relevant Certificate 3 or after six months of continuous employment, provided you meet performance standards. This role will allow you to deepen your knowledge and skills while contributing to the health and wellbeing of our community.

At AHA Level 2, your responsibilities will expand to include dispensing and distribution of medications, packaging of pharmaceuticals, and inventory management. You will also provide technical training to staff and organise daily workloads, ensuring a well-functioning pharmacy environment. To Be Successful:

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Pharmacy Assistant who is eager to learn and grow within our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a commitment to safe work practices while delivering excellent service to our patients.

  • A strong willingness to learn and develop skills under the guidance of supervising staff, alongside sound arithmetic and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showcasing good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medical terminology, and pharmacy manufacturing methods, with proficiency in Pharmacy Management Software.
  • Proven experience in a hospital pharmacy, with an understanding of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical practices.
