About the Role:

The Simulation Education Fellowship is a combined clinical and teaching position, comprising 0.5 FTE in Simulation Based Education (SBE) within Adelaide Health Simulation at The University of Adelaide, and 0.5 FTE in your chosen specialty within Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN).

The simulation component will be undertaken at Adelaide Health Simulation (AHS), at The University of Adelaide. AHS is an accredited health care simulation facility with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and additionally holds ACEM Specialist Skills Post accreditation, including Training Stage 4. For trainees in colleges other than ACEM, NALHN will work with Adelaide Health Simulation to accredit, where possible, time spent in this role with your college.

Adelaide Health Simulation is the most technologically advanced simulation centre in Australasia, offering state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology to enhance medical training. Registrars working in this role will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with simulation experts who specialise in multiple modalities of simulation education, including simulated patients, mechanical low and high-fidelity patient simulators, virtual reality-based medical training, and immersive simulators.

In addition to honing practical teaching and simulation skills at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, registrars will have the option to explore simulation-based research, curriculum design, and interdisciplinary training methods that promote collaboration between health professionals. The centre's technologies enable realistic scenarios that help develop critical decision-making skills, improve communication in crisis situations, and reinforce both clinical knowledge and patient safety standards.

Working alongside experts in this field will not only enhance the registrars' hands-on clinical abilities but also provide them with a broader understanding of health education innovations and simulation-based education fundamentals including debrief techniques, formal feedback, remediation provision, and assessment.

Within NALHN, you will contribute to continuous quality improvement and education activities, as NALHN works to implement an organisation wide simulation program. NALHN will actively utilise the skills you develop with AHS to assist in developing and expanding its education programs.

The NALHN 0.5FTE component of this role will be situated in your chosen specialty.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
