About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Medicine team as a Renal Laboratory Technician, where you will be responsible for:

  • Performing all tests associated with the Renal Laboratory, including 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, 30-minute blood pressure studies, and 7-day home blood pressure monitoring.
  • Prioritizing and organizing test bookings efficiently.
  • Conducting and reporting on urine spun microscopy.
  • Preparing collection equipment and educating patients/families on 24-hour urine collections, including recording urine dipstick results.
  • Contributing to maintaining high standards in both technical and administrative aspects of clinical and research functions within the Renal Laboratory.
  • Overseeing the Renal Laboratory’s quality assurance programs and ensuring timely communication of routine diagnostic results to medical personnel.
  • Fostering a collaborative team environment where communication, initiative, and proactive qualities are essential.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to:

  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline
  • Experience in a medical technical laboratory.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Experience and participation in Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Ability to interact with patients and their families (for parts of the role).
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure and work independently at times.
