About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patient Flow Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will apply your clinical nursing or midwifery expertise to lead and support safe, effective patient flow across a variety of clinical settings. With a focus on delivering high-quality care, you will facilitate patient transitions from Emergency, Critical Care, and Operating Room services to inpatient wards—ensuring the right patient is in the right place at the right time. Your advanced clinical judgement and leadership will contribute directly to improved patient outcomes and service efficiency.

As an expert in your field, you will be responsible for bed management, interfacility transfers, and communication of demand and capacity with CALHN executives and external stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with Nurse Unit Managers, Nurse Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, guide best practice, and support organisational goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care while contributing to innovation and excellence in health service delivery.

About You

You are a dedicated and experienced nursing professional with a strong clinical background and a passion for leadership and patient-centred care. You will bring:

  • Current Registration as a Nurse with the Nursing Board of Australia, with at least 3 years' post-registration experience.

  • Strong Leadership & Communication Skills, with proven ability to lead teams, manage conflict, and drive positive change.

  • Clinical Expertise in Bed Management & Patient Flow, supporting timely and effective care across the service.

  • Comprehensive Knowledge of healthcare legislation, safety standards, and contemporary nursing practice.
