Make Your Mark: RN3 Nurse Consultant for Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit

As an RN3 Nurse Consultant, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership to drive improved patient outcomes and service delivery excellence, contributing to the coordination and management of projects, programs, and research initiatives. Enjoying significant autonomy and decision-making authority, your accountability encompasses your nursing practice, professional advice, care delegations, and addressing practice-policy inconsistencies. Specifically, as the Nurse Consultant – Mental Health Nursing Rehabilitation, you will spearhead planning, development, implementation, research, and evaluation efforts, translating evidence into practice and creating competency-building resources to prepare for the introduction of new Mental Health Inpatient Rehabilitation beds.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Allied Health Director and the Nursing Director, Community Stream, some of your duties as the Nurse Consultant may involve:

  • Integrating contemporary information and evidence with person experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that are expected at this level. 
  • Ensuring that service provision and the activities of the Division are customer focused and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of business partners and external clients. 
  • Using available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff. 

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate.
  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience. 
  • Demonstrated competence in Mental Health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects. 
  • Experience with quality improvement activities, project planning and implementation. 
  • Experience in evaluating the results of research and integrating, where relevant, the results into reports.
