About the Opportunity

Torrens House is a 9 bed Early Parenting Residential Unit, located on South Tce in Adelaide, supporting parents with infants up to 12 months of age with unresolved parenting challenges including feeding, settling and perinatal mental health. 

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CaFHS team as a Senior Medical Practitioner where you will be responsible for:

  • Provision of advanced quality client centred primary health care services to families admitted to Torrens House for Early Parenting education and support.
  • Works autonomously within a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Liaises with other service providers, both internally and externally, who work with infants and their families/carers in relation to their health care, to ensure effective outcomes are achieved in line with the CaFHS Model of Care.
  • Undertakes education and research as required and will participate in and encourage/support team work amongst staff for optimal client service outcomes.
  • Responsible for providing and/or coordinating effective safety and quality processes.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  • Ability to provide specialised services for perinatal care and support, in particular recognising the increasing burden of anxiety related mental health issues impacting on the families admitted to Torrens House.
  • Willingness to write health reports in the context of Dept. Child Protection related cases for court
  • Ability to respectfully support, communicate and relate to people with diverse value systems, cultural differences and special needs.
  • Advanced skills and clinical excellence in clinical practice within a primary health care setting,
  • Experienced in assessing the needs and care requirements of infants and their families to help safeguard and promote health, development and wellbeing.
