The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, state-wide and hospital-based services for perinatal women.

Our services include:

  • Triage of mental health difficulties
  • Comprehensive mental health assessment
  • Individual and family therapy
  • Group programmes
  • Information provision to parents/carers and key partners such as schools, GPs, hospitals, government and nongovernment organisations

The Opportunity

Exciting opportunities exist within CAMHS Connect to join us as CAMHS Clinician on a full-time basis, in an temporary capacity until 26 Dec 2025.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide clinical expertise for children, adolescents and their families with mental health issues.
  • Actively participate in monitoring client care plans and clinical review programmes/audits to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with consumers in the development of individual care/treatment plans using a recovery framework.
  • Promote access and equity of services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

About You

As a Clinician with mental health experience, you will strive toward a reflective, systemically and dynamically informed contribution to team activities. 

All activities will be undertaken with a common goal; offering a child, young person and family an experience of being understood, contained and supported to cope as they move into appropriate further mental health care.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice. 
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions of a complex nature with children, adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience in the development of appropriate mental health care plans, in collaboration with colleagues, consumers and families.
  • Experience in problem solving, negotiation and conflict management and demonstrated ability to work reflectively will colleagues and under pressure.
