Overview
Joining the friendly and professional Rural and Remote Mental Health Services Team, you will utilise your clinical nursing expertise and contribute to the improvement of high quality, safe mental health services. You will provide clinical and consultancy services that support the recovery of mental health consumers across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings. You will have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making to deliver expert mental health nursing care. This will include the opportunity to provide clinical leadership to nurses and coordinate projects that improve consumer outcomes. Working within a primary health care setting, you will undertake effective complex discharge planning and hospital avoidance strategies through the provision of education, equipment and referral services. As part of your role, you will develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team and members of local health agencies, including Consultant Psychiatrists, General Practitioners (GPs), unit managers, mental health staff and other health professionals.
You will need to be eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate, along with a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or an equivalent qualification). With demonstrated expertise in mental health nursing practice, you will be confident in leading and promoting consumer engagement initiatives. Prior experience in the supervision and leadership of multidisciplinary staff, student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses will hold you in good stead for this role.
