About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Michael Rice Centre for Haematology/Oncology team as a Nurse Consultant – Central Nervous System (CNS) Tumour Cancer Care Coordinator, where you will be responsible for:
- Integrate contemporary evidence and personal experience to inform decision-making, foster innovative thinking, and perform objective analysis, as expected at this level. This includes leveraging expert clinical knowledge to guide and enhance the delivery of nursing care, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
- Provide expert, direct clinical care, including the selection and implementation of various therapeutic interventions. Manage individual cases for patients with CNS tumours, ensuring comprehensive care for both patients and their families.
- Lead and support effective discharge planning, including hospital avoidance strategies through education, provision of equipment, and appropriate referrals.
- Exercise independent clinical decision-making in areas of personal expertise, undertaking responsibilities.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for patients moving between different healthcare institutions, such as from metropolitan to rural areas or from paediatric to adult care centres.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
- Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
