- As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Surgical Services team as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar, where you will be responsible for:
- Provide care to severely injured patients presenting to WCHN as a member of the WCHN Trauma Team, both in the Emergency Department, and during admission, under consultant supervision
- Assist the WCHN trauma nurse coordinator in Trauma Governance Activities, including preparation of audit data and case presentation for the monthly Trauma M&M.
- Attend the WCHN Trauma Audit Group Meetings and WCHN Trauma Education Sessions during rostered hours
- Participate in a roster to provide overnight care of ward and ED patients with acute surgical issues requiring assessment by a member of the surgical team
- Participate in research projects in the field of paediatric or adolescent trauma
- Attend outpatient clinics relevant to the field of trauma care, including fracture, burns and rehabilitation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
- Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Medical Registration.
- RACS Early Management of Severe Trauma Course completion or equivalent
- RACS Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient Course completion or equivalent
- Clinical experience in acute surgical care, including trauma
- Skill in problem solving and decision making at an organisational and individual level.
- Understanding both the rights and responsibilities of patients and their families
