About the role
Looking for a rewarding role and to contribute to the wellbeing of your local community? Are you people-oriented? Join our team as a Phlebotomist! Experience in specimen collection, medical terminology or data entry is preferred, but not essential as on the job training will be provided. Some weekend work required.
Classification for this role will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, aligning with either an OPS1 or OPS2 level. As an Operational Services Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of efficient and high-quality laboratory services. Key responsibilities include venepuncture, specimen collection, courier runs, sorting and accessioning specimens, accurate data entry, and ensuring correct storage and transport of specimens in accordance with established protocols.
You will be required to manage internal and external customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner, supporting the smooth operation of the laboratory. At the OPS1 level, you will work under close direction with a strong focus on training and development. At the OPS2 level, you will operate under general direction, applying your acquired skills and knowledge to a broader range of tasks with greater autonomy. You are a reliable and detail-oriented professional with experience in pathology laboratory settings. You demonstrate initiative, work well both independently and in team environments, and remain calm and efficient under pressure.

Proven ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service to clients and colleagues.

Demonstrated experience in pathology laboratory operations with the ability to use computers and relevant software confidently.

Capable of identifying issues, escalating appropriately, and supporting a cooperative, team-based workplace culture.
