About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Clinician to join our community mental health service as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team. In this rewarding role, you will provide care coordination and a range of clinical services to young people experiencing mental health challenges. Your work will include care planning, psychosocial and mental health assessments, clinical reviews, and collaborative engagement with clients and their families, all in accordance with Clinical Business Rules.

The role is focused on supporting young people to stabilise their mental health, strengthen self-management, and enhance community participation. You will deliver therapeutic interventions including individual and family therapy, crisis management, and advocacy, while building partnerships with other mental health teams, primary care providers, and community organisations. Opportunities also exist to contribute to service improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of clinical practice through education and research.

About You

You are a qualified and compassionate mental health professional with a strong foundation in youth-focused practice and a passion for recovery-oriented care. You bring both clinical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively with young people, families, and community stakeholders.

  • Hold a relevant qualification and professional registration in Social Work, or Occupational Therapy, as recognised by Australian regulatory bodies. Or

  • Registered as Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and holds a current practicing certificate and holds a qualification in mental health nursing equivalent to a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage young people with complex mental health needs and conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and risk assessments.

  • Skilled in developing care plans, delivering psychosocial rehabilitation, and applying therapeutic interventions including counselling, family therapy, and group work.

  • Proven experience working with youth in community or inpatient mental health settings, supporting recovery and improving long-term outcomes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of youth development, mental health legislation, diagnostic systems, psychiatric medication, and ethical practice standards.
