Join Our Exceptional Team: Midwifery Unit Manager, Postnatal Services
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Women's and Babies Division as Midwifery Unit Manager, Postnatal Services. This pivotal role oversees the 42-bed Postnatal Ward, and the Midwifery Home Visiting service, ensuring exceptional care is provided for new mothers and their newborns.
As the Midwifery Unit Manager, you will leverage your clinical expertise to coordinate and lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring continuity and quality of patient care. Your leadership skills, including effective communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities, will be instrumental in fostering a positive work culture and achieving outstanding patient outcomes.
In this dynamic role, you will be accountable for the outcomes of midwifery practices and multidisciplinary teams, addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy, and developing team performance. Your ability to review and improve models of care to be person and family-centred will be highly valued.
To thrive in this role, you must be a Registered Midwife or Nurse and Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), holding a current practicing certificate and at least three years of post-registration experience. Additionally, you should possess:
- Effective leadership skills and highly developed communication abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace that develops staff potential
- Proven flexibility, innovation, and creativity within the service setting
- Demonstrated competence in relevant nursing and/or midwifery practices
- Experience in management, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics, and competency standards
