SA Health is seeking a proactive and experienced WHS professional to help drive continuous improvement and embed a strong safety culture across the health system.
Overview:
Reporting to the Lead WHS Programs, and accountable to the Manager, Work Health and Safety Injury Management, you will contribute to the development and maintenance SA Health’s Work Health Safety and Injury Management System (WHSIM). This includes facilitating strategic projects, providing expert advice, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, innovation, and best practice of WHSIM strategies, policies, programs, and supporting systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of agency-wide WHS systems, frameworks, and strategic plans aligned with AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 and public sector safety strategies.
- Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
- Coordinate and support strategic safety projects and policy initiatives across SA Health, in partnership with other Workforce Health and agency functions.
- Build effective relationships with Local Health Network, SA Ambulance Services, and external agencies to identify and address emerging WHS risks.
- Drive system enhancements based on system reviews and audit findings, legislative changes, and stakeholder feedback.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Demonstrated WHS experience and ability to plan, implement and evaluate WHS systems, strategies, and solutions.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-level responses.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, including negotiation with senior leaders and external bodies.
- Proficiency in using software tools to develop documentation, analyse data, and manage projects.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
