About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Service Registrar to join the Upper GI team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH). In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients under the care of the department, working closely with Consultants, Fellows, and Senior Registrars. You'll play a vital role in reviewing inpatient referrals, assessing new presentations in the Emergency Department and wards, and supporting the ongoing care of surgical patients. Your contribution to surgical theatre work and active involvement in quality improvement and clinical education will be highly valued.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll have daily interactions across various internal departments including Radiology, Pathology, and Emergency, ensuring seamless patient care and coordination. You’ll also provide respectful and informative communication to patients, families, and community practitioners. With a strong focus on teaching and mentorship, this role offers the opportunity to develop your leadership skills while supporting junior doctors in a dynamic and supportive environment.

About You

You are a skilled and dedicated medical professional with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care in a team-based environment. Your ability to think critically, adapt to change, and engage effectively with patients and colleagues will see you thrive in this dynamic and rewarding role.

  • Hold an MBBS or equivalent, with general registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and a commitment to quality improvement

  • Knowledge of public hospital systems, contemporary health issues, and patient rights and responsibilities
