Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service is a leading regional hospital in South Australia, offering 58 beds, including flex and monitored beds, and a broad range of services such as emergency care, general and surgical services, maternity, outpatient clinics, and outreach programs. Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Port Augusta

 

About the Role:

Step into a senior leadership position as a Consultant Paediatrician and help shape the future of child and adolescent health in regional South Australia. Based in Port Augusta, you’ll deliver high-quality paediatric and neonate care while supporting integrated service delivery across the region and state - including outreach to northern country hospitals and engagement with the broader children's health network.

You’ll provide expert clinical services, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and support evidence-based practices that enhance outcomes for children - especially Aboriginal children - through culturally appropriate care. This role also includes contributing to the development of tertiary services with a strong focus on early intervention and maternal-child health.

You will maintain detailed clinical records using Sunrise EMR & PAS, participate in on-call rosters, and play an active role in clinical audits and review programs. As a mentor and educator, you’ll support junior medical staff and participate in both undergraduate and postgraduate paediatric teaching. About You:

  • FRACP and eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in general paediatrics and child health.
  • You must have previous experience working in a public hospital setting.
  • You must have experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • You must have experience in, and commitment to, working within a multidisciplinary team with an interdisciplinary approach to services.
  • You must have a formal Credentialling and delineation of scope of clinical practice will be undertaken prior to appointment.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
