About the role: 

You will strategically lead, manage, and direct our dedicated WHS Prevention Team, ensuring advisory and operational services are delivered with excellence. This position demands a proactive leader who will drive legislative compliance, mitigate risks, and partner with senior management to significantly reduce work-related injuries and compensation claims.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Leading the implementation of SALHN's Safety Council's Injury Prevention strategies.
  • Managing the WHS Prevention Team to effectively support Divisional Services with programmed objectives.
  • Driving the organisation's WHS audit verification program, ensuring compliance and preparing impactful reports.
  • Assisting and supporting managers with WHS risk assessments and providing expert advice, training, and instruction.
  • Reviewing incident/accident/hazard reports and advising on appropriate investigation and intervention strategies.

About you:

You are a WHS professional with a strategic mindset and a passion for creating truly safe workplaces.

  • You possess tertiary qualifications in Work Health Safety or Injury Management or a relevant discipline.
  • You have extensive experience and expertise in providing Injury Prevention advice and interpreting Work Health Safety Legislation within a large, complex organisation.
  • You are a proven leader in developing, implementing, and monitoring effective Injury Prevention programs and procedures.
  • You excel in building high-performance teams, fostering diversity, and motivating staff to achieve shared safety goals.
  • You demonstrate exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly.
