About the role

This role will initially be based in the new Mental Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IMHRU) located adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.  The CALHN 24-Bed IMHRU offers contemporary, evidence based, and high-quality rehabilitation services to consumers within the CALHN catchment area.  The Senior Pharmacist will work in collaboration with inpatient, community, and rehabilitation services within the Mental Health Clinical Program to support consumer access and positive outcomes.  The CALHN IMHRU supports a whole systems approach to recovery which maximises a consumer’s quality of life, social inclusion, and hope for the future by encouraging opportunities for independence, skill development and community integration.

We’re seeking a highly experienced and self-driven Senior Pharmacist to take a lead role in managing and operating a designated pharmacy area within SA Pharmacy. In this dynamic position, you’ll be instrumental in delivering comprehensive, high-level pharmacy services, offering expert therapeutic advice, ensuring safe and cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals. You'll work autonomously while collaborating with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to improve patient outcomes across hospital and outpatient settings.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide strategic direction, mentor staff, and champion quality use of medicines. You’ll play a pivotal role in service development, lead research initiatives, participate in quality improvement programs, and contribute to education and training. If you're passionate about excellence in healthcare and want to make a statewide impact within a values-driven team, we’d love to hear from you.

All clinical and non-clinical staff employed at the IMHRU are required to:

  • Be trained in, and work with, a recovery-oriented strengths-based approach.
  • Be trained and work with a trauma-informed approach to care.
  • Understand the basic principles of rehabilitation practice, including skills in supported structured group activities and promoting daily living skills.
  • Undertake rehabilitation focussed assessments and interventions.
  • Recognise and work with consumers with coexisting Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD).
  • Understand the unique rehabilitation requirements of people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Understand the unique rehabilitation requirements for people from culturally and linguistically diverse or gender diverse background.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent and current registration (or eligibility) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
