Join our Inpatient Occupational Therapy Team

 

 

The Senior Inpatient Occupational Therapist at SALHN provides advanced clinical care, leadership, and coordination of Occupational Therapy services across acute inpatient settings. This role involves delivering patient-centred assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, while also supporting other OTs through clinical consultation, staff supervision, and best practice guidance. Additionally, the position contributes to service planning and development, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care and workforce capability within acute inpatient services.

 

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Deliver advanced assessment, treatment, and care planning for acute inpatients, addressing functional, cognitive, sensory, and perceptual needs to support optimal performance in personal and instrumental activities of daily living and facilitate safe, appropriate discharge planning.
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert consultation in managing complex cases, contributing to service development, multidisciplinary care planning, and the delivery of evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions within acute inpatient settings.
  • Participating in the development of guidelines and practices to improve patient care within the occupational therapy service.
  • Attending meetings, assisting with audits, in-service education and quality improvement activities.

 

About you: 

  • Obtained an degree or qualification which entitles registration as a Occupational Therapist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Champion best practice and drives the advancement of OT within acute care settings.
  • Provides strong clinical leadership and inspire a high-performing, motivated team.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to foster effective collaboration across disciplines.
  • Applies strong negotiation skills and confidently manages conflict when required.
  • Promotes consumer-centred care through active involvement and engagement whilst maintaining high levels of discretion, professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
