About the role

This is a standout opportunity to take a leadership role within SA Pharmacy’s dynamic and progressive team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician Service Coordinator. In this vital position, you’ll be responsible for coordinating daily operations, supervising pharmacy technicians and support staff, and overseeing the efficient delivery of pharmacy services within a hospital setting. Working closely with pharmacists, students, and external stakeholders, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, people-centred team committed to high-quality patient outcomes across South Australia.

The Senior Pharmacy Technician Service Coordinator has overall responsibility for leading a team of support staff, intern pharmacist(s) and orientating and training pharmacist(s) and students in the designated area to ensure a quality pharmacy service is delivered.

Under the general direction of the Pharmacist responsible for the designated areas the key functions of the role are to:

  • coordinate delivery of high quality and timely service
  • prioritise work of the available human resource to optimise service outcomes
  • act as a point of contact for staff and students and customers of the service
  • undertake practice reviews ensuring staff competence
  • undertake performance review and development of staff
  • provide leadership within the department for the development, review, evaluation and teaching of workplace policies and procedures
  • manages a large and complex workload applying high levels of skills and knowledge across a broad range of activities
  • contribute to and represents the department on hospital and SA Pharmacy Committees
  • may represent SA Pharmacy on Committees

This position will work closely with the Pharmacist responsible for the area and works towards supporting the Pharmacy manager(s) to ensure the provision of safe and cost effective drug therapy achieving optimal outcomes for patients.

About You

You are an experienced pharmacy technician with a strong leadership presence, ready to mentor others and manage complex service delivery in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Certificate IV (or above) in a relevant field such as Pharmacy, Business Admin or Leadership & Management

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in hospital pharmacy operations and staff supervision

  • Strong skills in training, auditing, inventory management, and technical pharmacy support

  • Must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Clearance (NPC) and meet SA Health’s immunisation requirements
