About the role

As a Technical Officer (TGO 1), you will play an integral role in delivering quality, multi-disciplined pathology services within a regional laboratory setting. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment, working both independently and as part of a team to perform essential technical duties that underpin accurate diagnostics and patient care. This role involves applying your technical knowledge, experience, and skills to ensure that all laboratory procedures and standards are followed consistently.

Your responsibilities will include conducting a variety of technical activities using standardised practices and procedures, supporting technical project work, and actively participating in the continuous improvement of laboratory operations. You will be expected to utilise your expertise to ensure high standards of service, accuracy, and reliability, while contributing to the success of the regional laboratory and the broader pathology service.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in an approved and recognised qualification.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work under limited supervision.

  • Proven ability to manage variable workloads, meet deadlines, follow instructions, and provide excellent customer service.

  • General laboratory experience, sound knowledge of laboratory principles, and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation.

About us

SA Pathology Regional Services supports laboratories spread throughout regional and outer-metro South Australia. These labs provide pathology testing, in the disciplines of haematology, haemostasis, microbiology, clinical chemistry, blood bank and supporting the Point of Care Testing network. Regional Services must provide timely pathology for the local hospital. As such, laboratory staff must reside within 30 minutes of the laboratory for on-call purposes
