Join SA Health's Specialist Emergency Department Service Community team as a Senior Mental Health Clinician, where you'll provide expert assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing mental health crises in Adelaide's southern metropolitan region. About the role:
Reporting to the Team Manager, this role is responsible for providing care to clients across South Australia suffering from eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Other Specified Feeding or eating disorders. The SEDS provides care through consultation liaison; evidence-based care and integrated research. Components of the SEDS include a Consultation Liaison Service, a Day Program and an inpatient program. Employees have access to a comprehensive suite of training and supervision.
Duties for the role will include:
- Undertaking a clinical case load and providing individual support to clients with a diagnosed eating disorder,
- Undertaking assessments and planning recovery focussed services for individual clients, including bio-psycho-social assessment and mental state examination, including risk assessment of all clients referred to the service,
- Offering specialist, evidence based, group or individual programs according to own knowledge base and individual skill, as determined by service/team requirements,
- Providing consultation and assistance to Community Mental health Teams and CAMHS to meet the mental health care needs of the client group,
- Coordinating, participating in, initiating and implementing programs, methodologies, projects and assignments as negotiated with the team and other appropriate senior staff,
- Providing clinical leadership to the team to incorporate recovery focussed psychosocial and contemporary approaches / models into practice,
- Supporting the Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist to develop and implement workflow processes, quality assurance processes and ensure optimal work outcomes
About you:
- Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and general registration with the PsyBA with an endorsed area of practice in Clinical Psychology, Hold approved supervisor status with the PsyBA at all levels of supervision.
- Advanced skills in undertaking a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment, including mental state and risk assessments of clients presenting with high or complex needs,
- Advanced skills in individualised care planning and coordinating comprehensive service provision and crisis intervention with people who have high or complex needs,
- High level of competence in the provision of a range of discipline specific assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions and skills including individual and group work,
- Skills in psychosocial rehabilitation practices and recovery practices,
- At least 3 years post registration experience in mental health,
- Experience in a senior clinical role within a mental health setting
- Experience in delivering evidenced based treatment for those experiencing an eating disorder.
