About the role
The Director of Paediatric Training Network oversees basic paediatric training across South Australia on behalf of WCHN, working with Directors of Physician Education at WCH, FMC, and LMH. The role provides leadership, coordination, and liaison with the RACP and health networks to ensure high-quality, accredited training. Key focuses include educational leadership, trainee support, workforce planning, accreditation compliance, and development of supervisors and training programs to strengthen paediatric physician training across the state.
Key duties of the role
- Educational Leadership - Overseeing the structure and delivery of the paediatric training program in South Australia.
- Trainee Support - Ensuring robust support systems for basic and advanced paediatric trainees in collaboration with DPE, Trainee Medical Officer Units (TMOUs) across SA Health, and the WCHN Chief Resident Medical Officer (CRMO).
- Accreditation and Compliance - Managing accreditation requirements and maintaining strong relationships with the RACP, training hospitals, and relevant stakeholders.
- Workforce Planning and Term Allocations - Supporting Educational Supervisors and Ward/Service Consultants to provide high-quality clinical and professional training opportunities.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatrics and Child Health and Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Highly evolved communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a complex team environment
- Demonstrated ability and experience with leadership, quality improvement initiatives and change management
