About the role
As a Medical Scientist within the Virology / Serology / Molecular Diagnostic Department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that support patient care and public health. Working across multiple domains, you will apply your scientific knowledge and technical skills to perform a range of routine diagnostic techniques, contributing to problem definition, planning, execution, analysis and reporting. With the support of senior scientists, you will also assist in the training and supervision of technical staff, while having the opportunity to contribute to research and teaching activities within the Department.
This position offers an exciting pathway for growth and development, with the opportunity to build increasing expertise and exercise independent professional judgement as you progress through the MeS-1 level. You will contribute to the development and adoption of new methodologies, participate in continuous improvement, and support innovation in diagnostic science. On successful completion of a competency-based training program, and subject to experience and assessment, you may be eligible to progress to the MeS-2 level, opening further career opportunities within this dynamic and specialised field.
About You
You will be a qualified and motivated Medical Scientist who meets the NPAAC requirements for supervision in Clinical Governance of Medical Pathology Laboratories and is ready to contribute your expertise in diagnostic testing within a collaborative team environment.

Hold a recognised degree in pathology or equivalent qualification as defined by NPAAC.

Demonstrated ability to perform routine diagnostic tests, operate laboratory equipment, and apply quality laboratory procedures.

Strong teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and meet workload targets.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in relevant software and a commitment to safe, high-quality laboratory practice.
